About Me

Eldest child, sibling, shy, rugby and tennis player, husband, engineer, parish priest and website designer, father and dodo.

Caring Perfectionist

At a very early age I learned to care. I was an eldest child in a family of four and inherited a deep sense of responsibility. My parents were dairy farmers and there was always more than enough to do including milking 80 cows morning and night. From about age 7-8 I relieved mum of this task, working alongside dad in the cowshed. I learned early to be quite responsible and care not only for family ut for the animals too.

Dad set very high standards, especially of cleanliness in the milking shed. Not cleaning the milking equipment properly meant the possibility of a ‘grade’ i.e. being paid less by the dairy company for the milk because it had been down-‘graded’. I was often chastised for not being clean enough, or careful or timely, or…?

Regular floods over the property complicated farm life. These required significantly clearing and cleaning to ensure that the cowshed was fit for purpose and the property reaadied to continue sustaining the dairy herd.
